C. Tourniquet
"The wound should be irrigated immediately, and
any visible pieces of the spine or integumentary sheath should be removed. Other
first aid measures include control of any bleeding and hot water immersion
therapy...If the pain does not respond to hot-water immersion, then oral, or
more often parenteral, analgesia is required. However, local infiltration of the
wound with local anesthetic without epinephrine, or a regional nerve block may
be more effective."
